Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to identify current research findings in cardiology as they relate to cardiovascular surgery and identify surgical clinical areas to launch outcome improvements. The mission is to provide a participatory forum for cardiovascular clinicians to share profession’s evidence based ideas and share methods that can be used to improve patient outcomes, quality of care and cost effectiveness. It will also explore how process improvement leads to improved outcomes.
Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Engage in an opportunity for discussion regarding best practices in CV surgery
- Develop system-wide interface and networking skills amongst
- Identify current research findings in cardiology as they relate to cardiovascular surgery
- Identify cardiovascular surgical clinical areas to launch outcome improvement projects
- Engage in a participatory forum with cardiovascular clinicians to share professional evidence-based ideas
- Utilize methods that fellow clinicians use to improve patient outcome, quality of care and cost effectiveness
- Explain how process improvement leads to improved outcome
Target Audience
Cardiovascular Surgeons and Intensivists who wish to improve clinical processes or plan to conduct related research; Anesthesiologists whose responsibilities include cardiovascular surgery; Cardiovascular/Intensive Care Nurses whose responsibilities include the implementation of Clinical Quality Improvement, and who wish to champion the facility’s quality improvement efforts from a clinical focus; Administrators whose responsibilities include clinical integration strategies; Data Managers, Data Analysts, and Information System Personnel involved with Cardiovascular Data Management.
